In August of 2021, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina joined an elite group at the CIO 100 Awards. Their IT Infrastructure team was to be awarded for the success of an impressive and expansive IT initiative, and the team was honored to receive this “acknowledged mark of enterprise excellence.”

The CIO 100 Awards ceremony recognizes the achievements of 100 of the top IT organizations from across the US. And this year it was (as it was for the first time in 2020) held virtually. 

The all-digital format of the prestigious event meant that, as award recipients, the IT Infrastructure team needed to provide a video about their initiative in lieu of an in-person acceptance speech. 

To create a video that rose to the occasion, we aimed for a minimalist style that leveraged sharp-looking effects and classic production tactics. The goal was to give an overall impression of polished, innovative professionalism - a reflection of their team and their work. 

Not only did the video effectively capture and elevate the impressive scope and benefits of the initiative for the awards ceremony, but also the footage has mileage.

BCBSNC is able to use a shorter cut of the video to recognize the IT Infrastructure team internally. Now the business stakeholders of the initiative and the employees experiencing the changes it enacted can see the big picture and all the effort that went into it, boosting their engagement in it. Which, for any initiative that relies on culture change, can be as big a deal as a major award.
